Fire guts inside South Gate commercial building in Los Angeles
The blaze was reported about 9:40 p.m in the 9500 block of California Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department.
News video showed dramatic flames rising from inside the building, whose roof had collapsed in the inferno. Firefighters on engine ladders, and on the roofs of adjacent structures, were seen dousing the fire.
A sign above the business's front entrance read "BEST MATTRESS for LESS."
The blaze was knocked down at 10:36 p.m., the Fire Department said on Twitter. Crews remained at the scene to work on hot spots.
One patient was transported to a hospital, fire officials said. The nature of that person's injuries was not immediately known.
